The Analyst Position
Reporting directly to the Vice President, the Analyst position at Clavis is a key member of the team and has a broad range of duties and responsibilities assisting the Clavis team with identifying and qualifying new investments, as well as enhancing the performance of existing Clavis portfolio companies. This is a multi-faceted role that requires a broad skill set, willingness and ability to perform both strategic and tactical duties effectively, excellent interpersonal skills and the capability to effectively juggle multiple projects and requirements.

Duties Related to Clavis:
• Review, analyze, screen, summarize and provide recommendations on new investment opportunities presented to Clavis.
• Construct sophisticated financial models and perform financial analysis, scenario planning, investor returns analysis and sensitivity analysis in support of investment opportunities.
• Track and log Clavis new deal pipeline.

• Coordinate and manage due diligence process for targeted investment opportunities to include general research, company analysis, market analysis, competitive positioning, customer analysis, financial / accounting analysis, etc.
• Work closely with Clavis CPA firm in planning and performing Quality of Earnings and other financial due diligence analysis on targeted investments.
• Work with Managing Partner, Managing Directors, and Vice President to develop investment memos, investor presentations and supporting material summarizing analysis and due diligence activities performed on targeted investment opportunities.
• Coordinate reporting requirements for portfolio companies as required by Clavis LPs and lenders.
• Develop, maintain and grow strong relationships within the transaction / buyout ecosystem, including commercial lenders, sub-debt lenders, investors, transaction advisory firms, business brokers, investment banks, etc.
• Perform additional duties as required. Duties Related to Assisting Existing Clavis Portfolio Companies:
• Assist portfolio company CFOs in financial reporting, analysis, Board document preparation, annual audit preparation and other requirements as necessary. Serve as a resource for CEOs and CFOs as needed.
• Assist/Manage a variety of transition items required for new portfolio company onboarding.
• Perform market research and gather competitive intelligence in support of portfolio company strategic plans. Assist in identification of potential add-on acquisitions for portfolio companies.

• Assist portfolio company management as an extended team member on a variety of project- based tasks across a number of functions.

• Note: Analysts are occasionally placed within portfolio companies for a period of time to assist with specific projects or transition to Clavis ownership. Successful candidates should have capability to serve as an interim controller for a period of time while permanent CFOs are recruited and placed.

This role requires a hands-on professional who is willing to roll sleeves up and effectively multi-task in
a fast-paced environment.

The successful individual will have strong analytical and exceptional people skills and have the ability to represent themselves credibly
to small business owners, lenders, bankers and investors. Individuals with military leadership experience combined with the above will be given special consideration.

Experience/Requirements

  • Minimum of a Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Economics, Engineering, Operational
  • Management or similar discipline
  • Minimum of 2 years of post-undergraduate relevant work experience
  • Deep experience and expertise in financial modeling and financial analysis; Strong
  • understanding of accounting principles and financial statement presentation. CPA preferred
  • Experience working with, at or analyzing companies in the industrial sector with specific
  • experience working in the manufacturing sector preferred
  • Strong research capabilities and experience in developing comprehensive research reports

Compensation
Compensation for this role will consist of a base salary as well as annual and project-based bonus
compensation, and medical/health benefits. Unfortunately, we will not be able to offer candidates
